Hotel plans unveiled PLANS have been lodged for a €120million
golf development creating 500 jobs in north Cork.
Magner Development has lodged the application for a hotel and golf resort
on the site of Ballygiblin Manor and Estate in Mallow.
The development on the 220-acre site will be known as Magner Manor Golf
Hotel And Spa.
The project is expected to deliver up to 500 direct and indirect jobs
— with 250 expected during the construction phase alone.
The development will involve a €120million investment — with
an estimated €70million annual spend in the local economy.
Work on the project is planned to start later this year and the development
will open in 2010.
Magner’s Larry O’Donoghue said: “Magner Manor will be
the realisation of our vision for a world-class integrated tourism facility
in north Cork and a tremendous boost to the local economy.”
The plans include a 40-bed hotel, spa, conference and wedding facilities.
A further 70 bedrooms under hotel management will be available by way
of 32 golf lodges. The project also involves plans for 128 permanent residences.
A 7,300-yard championship standard 18-hole golf course is planned for
the grounds of the estate along with a 17,000sq ft clubhouse and separate
golf academy. |
