It could be you with Huddersfield
lottery

An Irish Gaelic Club in Huddersfield is appealing to the Irish community
in Britain to help secure its future by raising funds towards a new minibus.
Brothers Pearce GAA Club recently received a grant of £10,000 from
Awards For All National Lottery fund to help finance the bus which is
vital to the future of the club.
But a new minibus is expected to cost in the region of £25,000.
Under the terms and conditions of the award the bus must be purchased
new by October 2007.
And in order to make up the difference the club is asking people to join
its Mini Lotto which is drawn every Sunday night.
The draw will take place at Huddersfield’s Irish Centre and the
jackpot is currently at £225.
Club secretary Ollie Walsh believes the money and the bus will make a
vital contribution towards the club. He said: “Five lines cost just
£1 a week in the draw, so we are not asking for very much. You would
hardly get half a lager for £1 and you definitely wouldn’t
get a bottle of Magners.
“That’s the buying power of a pound. It would mean a lot to
us but it probably wouldn’t be any great hardship to anybody else.
“The club has been going for over 50 years and transport is paramount
to us. We don’t have the volunteers with the cars we used to. Times
have changed. And the bus will be vital at youth level to keep the continuity
of the football club going.”
The club is particularly interested in targeting ex players and people
who attended their Golden Jubilee Dinner in Huddersfield in 2004 when
a crowd of 400 people were present.
The club say the minibus would also benefit the local community, especially
the elderly connected with Catholic Care and various other voluntary groups.
