Paedophile could be extradited

Authorities in Britain are seeking the extradition of a convicted paedophile who is wanted because he failed to register as a sex offender.

Daniel Hunt, who is in his mid-20s and originally from Walsgrave in Coventry, is currently serving a two-month sentence in Cork prison for a separate offence and is due to be released next Saturday.

He was jailed for indecently assaulting a girl under 16.

After his release from prison in Britain in January 2007, he was required to register on the list for seven years and his failure to do so carries a maximum sentence of five years.

He has been remanded in custody until next Wednesday, when the extradition case will be heard at the High Court.
