Pixel hunt plan to net millions

An Irishman has come up with an ingenious method of raising the funds needed to help bring up his daughter.

Michael McCann was struck down with a rare muscle disorder when he was 18 causing his mobility and speech to become impaired.

Now, forced to use a walking-aid and a communication device, the inventive Dublin 26-year-old needed a plan.

And the result is Missing Pixels (www.missing-pixels.com) — a website which would attract both advertisers and the general public.

Michael’s goal for the project is to raise ¤6million which would mean the person who puts all the pixels together would become a millionaire. A number of charities would also benefit greatly.

Michael said: “I came up with the idea after a lot of brainstorming. I was thinking how am I going to provide for my little girl on a very poor income and pay my bills.

“I was sitting at the table looking out the window thinking of ways to make the transition from having very little money to becoming rich.

“I imagined me in a garden with a 10ft wall in front of me and on the other side is financial freedom. I needed to find a way to get over that wall.”

The genius of the project Michael came up with was its simplicity.

He said: “The idea is simple. Be the first person to find all 50,000 missing pixels and you could win up to £1million. It’s exactly like a treasure hunt.

“I took that same element of excitement and put it online. The objective is for people to look around websites trying to find all of the 50,000 missing pixels.”

Michael is hopeful that the project will succeed. If it does it will give him the financial security he craves.

He said: “It will mean the world to me if I do reach my goal because I could then buy a house, like everyone else.

“Because of my illness I’ll never be able to buy my own house. I don’t want to be renting forever. Also, I want my daughter to be proud of her Daddy when she grows up and to show people who maybe in my situation (disabled or not) that all they need is a good idea.”
