Win the All-Ireland – from your home!
A
new computer game aimed at hurling fans all over the world has just been
launched.
Bainisteoir — Hurling is the first ever hurling strategy game that
allows you to train and manage your favourite county team.
And GAA enthusiasts in Britain can take charge of the specially-tailored
London Senior Hurling team and guide them through an entire season.
The game was the brainchild of brothers Fergal and Padraig McDonnell from
Co. Tipperary who both played hurling at underage level for their county.
And with a team of experienced game designers and professional advisors
behind them the duo spent years trying to create this unique gaming experience
that caters for the avid hurling fan.
The 28-year-old Fergal said: “We are delighted to be able to launch
Bainisteoir — Hurling.
“This game is a culmination of years of work and a genuine love
of the game of hurling.
“We have married our passion for the sport with gaming know-how
to realise the end product and we hope that it will appeal to hurling
enthusiasts everywhere.”
In the game, the role of the Bainisteoir (manager) includes negotiating
with sponsors, putting together a backroom staff, devising fitness and
training regimes as well as selecting the tactics for the weekend’s
big match.
As Bainisteoir, you will also have to deal with the media and cope with
player discipline and morale.
Also included in the experience is live stadium action, match commentary,
half-time analysis, pre-match team talks and match statistics throughout
the game.
The award-winning game was launched at Croke Park recently with several
top hurling stars turning up for the occasion.
At the launch All-Ireland winning manager Nicky English praised the authenticity
and innovation of the game.
He said: “This game imitates every conceivable aspect of a real
life senior county Bainisteoir.
“The attention to detail, particularly in relation to the planning
of training sessions and match tactics adds greatly to the realism and
authenticity of the game.”
Now the company — Tailteann Games — hopes to appeal to the
proud, passionate and fun-loving Irish all over Britain who want to experience
being part of the beautiful game of hurling.
Fergal said: “Anyone who loves hurling will fall in love with this
version.”
The game is available online at www.tailteann games.com or www.the gaastore.com.
