| Daughter’s plea to find missing
dad A DISTRAUGHT daughter has made a desperate plea for help
in finding her father after he went missing in Ireland.
Jane Thompson travelled from her home in Scotland to issue the appeal
as a search continued for plasterer Tommy Thompson.
The 58-year-old who is originally from York went missing from his new
home in Portlaoise two weeks ago.
And 26-year-old daughter Jane said she was desperate with worry.
She said: “I speak to my dad nearly every second day from Scotland.
“This is the 11th day and still there is no contact from him. It
is totally out of character. He is not a heavy drinker. He’d usually
go to work, come home, have a cup of tea and put his feet up.
“I’m hoping he comes home but the signs are not good.”
She said her father has two bank accounts and there have been no withdrawals
since his disappearance.
His family in Britain raised the alert and contacted Portlaoise gardaí
after Mr Thompson did not ring.
Gardaí who searched Mr Thompson’s house found a small amount
of blood on the inside of the front door but said there were no signs
of anything untoward happening.
Mr Thompson is described as being 5ft 8in in height, of slight build with
short grey receding hair.
Also missing is Mr Thompson’s blue Renault van — which his
daughter believes could hold vital clues.
She said: “The van is the key to this. We’ve got to find that
van. There will be a lot of clues in it.
“Gardaí seem to think he has not left Ireland because his
passport wasn’t used. I really miss my dad.
“I am not going home until I find out what happened to him.” |
