Draws announced for festivals

This week Youth GAA bosses in Ireland released the groupings for the forthcoming Féile Peil na n’Og (Gaelic football) and Féile Na Gael (hurling and camogie) events involving under-14 GAA teams from Ireland, Britain and North America.

The boys Féile Peile competition will see both London and Warwickshire play in Division 4 alongside teams from the host counties Sligo, Letirim, Roscommon alongside visitors Longford, Wicklow, Clare, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Wexford.

Division 5 includes Hertfordshire, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Scotland and the second London team who are joined by Wicklow’s seconds and Europe.

The girls Féile Peile competition will see Britain’s only representative Bishop Challoner School grouped with Derry, Philidelphia, New York, Fermanagh, Europe and the three host counties.

The Féile Na Gael competition held in Kilkenny from June 15-17 will pair London and Warwickshire in Division 6 alongside host clubs St. Patrick’s, Windgap and teams from Leitrim and Sligo. The Camogie festival will see Erin Go Bragh of Birmingham come up against Mayo, Monaghan, Meath and Donegal.

Univeristy all-stars set for season finale

Saturday, May 5 will see an exciting British University GAA season come to a close with the annual All-Star celebrations.

Third-level students from across Britain who have been chosen by their peers to receive Gaelic football, hurling and camogie All-Stars will take to the field at Pairc na h’Éireann in Birmingham from 11.50am onwards to display their talent.

First up will be the British GAA All-Star hurling team who will take on the London senior hurling side, whilst the camogie All-Stars will come head-to-head with a local Warwickshire team.

At 1pm the men’s Gaelic football All-Stars will face London, Warwickshire and Lancashire in an exhibition tournament closely followed by the ladies side who play the London senior Ladies.

The celebrations will move to the Corus Hotel in Solihull at 5.30pm for the Magners drinks reception followed by an auction and awards ceremony.
