| Winning Post Leopardstown’s
the place to be
With Cheltenham fast approaching punters’ eyes will be concentrating
on events at Leopardstown this weekend when the best novice hurdlers battle
it out.
Many of these horses have faced each other before but this race has great
significance as Cheltenham gets nearer and the horses should be getting
stronger and more experienced.
At this time of year in Novice Hurdles terms the cream really rises to
the top and Aran Concerto could be the cream of a very excellent crop
of young hurdlers in Ireland in 2007.
Noel Meade’s horse will probably be favourite on Sunday but he won’t
be a prohibitive price and should be the bet of the day.
Arrive Sir Clive is another horse with an excellent chance but he was
defeated last time out and may have had his limitations exposed that day.
The same could be said of Clopf. The principal British raider is likely
to be De Soto and while his form reads well enough this horse has been
competing at a far lower level than this race and whether he has that
level of improvement left in him is highly debatable.
Punters looking for a bit of each-way value are advised to look at Icklingham
a horse with much less experience than his rivals in this race but perhaps
he’s the one who will go onto have the most significant racing career.
