A liking for biking

If the bike is more your thing, then Inntravel has some very good news for you.

They’ve added a further nine routes to their independent Cycling and More programme of European holidays for spring, summer and autumn 2008.

Brittany, Menorca, Umbria, Romagna, Basilicata and Puglia, Salzburg Lakes, the Bernese Oberland and two routes in Sicily all make their first appearance in the programme.

The flexible packages include small, comfortable hotels plus modern, well-maintained bikes. Emergency assistance is on hand, plus detailed cycling notes and maps, map case, panniers, lock and lights.

Luggage is transported from one hotel to another so that you travel light when aboard your bike.

Prices run from £498 to £648 for seven nights but flights are not included.

However Inntravel can advise and book the best routes, times and flights, rail travel or ferry crossings to suit their customers.

Cycling through French vineyards

The French are officially really good at wine-making and cycling, so what better way to spend a holiday in France than combining them.

A cycling tour through the Dordogne region will take you pedalling past châteaux (they’re quite good at them as well) to taste a Saint Émilion here, a sauternes there and perhaps a cheeky little pomerol if the situation arises.

Seven-night self-guided tour from £975, www.discoverfrance.com.
