Kinnitty village dates from the late 18th century, and has some attractive simple shop fronts. In the Church of Ireland church there is an unusual early Christian graveslab, while the rear graveyard is dominated pyramidal mausoleum. The early 19th century Tudor revival creation of the Pain Brothers, Castle Bernard, is located nearby, and now houses a training school for foresters. The shaft of the high cross dating from the 10th century from the early monastery of St Finan Cam, has been re-erected on thecastle terrace.
